NexGard Spectra is a broad-spectrum tasty monthly chew for puppies and dogs from 8 weeks of age, weighing at least 4.4 lbs. The oral chew is indicated for the prevention of heartworm disease caused by Dirofilaria immitis. It treats and controls tick infestations caused by bush ticks and brown dog ticks. The formula kills fleas and treats and prevents flea infestations. It further treats and controls mange and mites and gastrointestinal worms including roundworms, hookworms and whipworms. Additionally, the treatment controls flea allergy dermatitis and prevents flea tapeworm infestations.

NexGard Spectra is a highly palatable chew that dogs readily accept when offered as a treat. However, it can also be administered with food. The treatment can be used in pregnant, breeding and lactating dogs.

How does NexGard Spectra work?

Nexgard Spectra contains afoxolaner and milbemycin oxime as its active ingredient. Afoxolaner induces hyperexcitation in insects and acarines, causing uncontrolled activity of the central nervous system of the parasites and killing them. Milbemycin Oxime disrupts hyperpolarisation in the neuromuscular membrane of the internal parasites resulting in paralysis and death of the parasites.
